Ray Charles Musical Coming to Broadway

Just a few years after ‘Ray’ won big at the Oscars, Ray Charles will be honored with a musical biography that’s headed to Broadway, the Associated Press reports. Opening in fall 2010, ‘Unchain My Heart’ will be directed by Sheldon Epps and feature a book by Suzan-Lori Parks, who won a Pulitzer Prize for ‘Topdog/Underdog.’

The show is being produced by Stuart Benjamin, who worked with Charles for 15 years and produced ‘Ray.’ Broadway.com reports that the musical is set during Charles’ last recording session, and will feature such hits as ‘Georgia on My Mind,’ ‘What’d I Say,’ ‘Mess Around,’ ‘Hit the Road, Jack,’ and more.
