Kings of Leon Headline 2011 Isle Of Wight Festival!
Kevin Mazur, WireImage Kings of Leon have ignited discussion on who will headline the 2011 festivals after they were revealed as one of the headliners of this next year’s Isle Of Wight festival.
They will play the festival on the Friday, June 10 — the opening night of the three day shindig, reports Gigwise.
The quartet has already announced a number of massive outdoor UK dates for next year, including shows at London’s Hyde Park, Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh and Coventry’s Ricoh Arena.
But seemingly these gargantuan summer shows aren’t quite enough for Kings of Leon who will play the opening night headline slot that Jay-Z occupied at the festival this summer.
Promoter John Giddings said, “We are proud to bring one of the world’s biggest rock bands to the island on our 10th anniversary. It is an incredible way to start the weekend, I can’t wait.” Full Story at Spinner
New Michael Jackson Album and World Tour Announced!
Even after his untimely death last year, Michael Jackson continues to make waves… and stir controversy. The current announcement that a long-rumored album of recent, unreleased material — simply titled ‘Michael’ — will, in fact, drop on Dec. 14 has already done both.
Rolling Stone reports that at least one of the tracks, ‘Breaking News,’ was recorded in New Jersey in 2007 and is very likely part of a batch of songs Jackson recorded with producer Eddie Cascio. According to TMZ, Jackson’s children dispute the fact that it’s their father singing on the track, while others involved with the project claim the children are being intentionally misled by Jackson’s mother, Katherine. Jackson’s estate, meanwhile, claims that sound experts have confirmed the track’s authenticity. All this and yet most details about the album have yet to be unveiled. A trailer for the release will appear on Michael Jackson’s official website on Friday, while ‘Breaking News’ will stream from the site the following week. Full Story at Spinner
Bob Dylan Confirmed for Australian Blues Festival!
Bob Dylan has been confirmed to appear at a small town Australian music festival next April, eight years after he was reportedly scheduled to play.
Topping the bill of the closing night at the 2011 Byron Bay Bluesfest, Dylan will be joining old-touring partner Elvis Costello and legendary guitarist BB King as a headliner at the five day Easter weekend festival (Apr. 21 to Apr. 25).
Bluesfest director Peter Noble claims that he has been ‘chasing’ Dylan to play the small north-east coast town in New South Wales — 165km south of Brisbane — booking him to play in 2003, but that he cancelled at the last minute.
Speaking to ABC news, Noble said, “He used to say, ‘Don’t put me in any town I’ve never heard of’, and finally we’ve done it. Although I think he’s heard of Byron now.” Full Story at Spinner
